Re: WHAT DO THE FOLLOWING PHRASES MEAN
No problem Roddy, I was just curious.
"Lick it" (not liquid) means the selector plays a tune. If the crowd makes gunshot noises, they are showing their approval of the tune, and the selector will usually rewind and start the tune over from the beginning.

Respect - Hail Mi Lion
Clarkes booty - is a real tuff kinda boot which was popular in the 70's - 80's to have in JA (espesially in the DJ Scene)Made by the clarkes company.
Bushmaster - a line of chain guns manufactured by Alliant Techsystems, the most popular being the M242 25mm Bushmaster (Automatic Gun) It is an externally powered, chain driven, single-barrel weapon which may be fired in semi-automatic or automatic modes. It is fed by a metallic link belt and has dual-feed capability. The term "chain gun" derives from the use of a roller chain that drives the bolt back and forth.
It can destroy lightly armored vehicles and aerial targets (such as helicopters and slow-flying aircraft). It can also suppress enemy positions such as troops in the open, dug-in positions, and built-up areas. The standard rate of fire is 200 rounds per minute, and has a range of 2,000 meters (depending on the type of ammunition used).
Champion Bubbler - meanes a top DJ or a champion MC in terms Of Rhyming / flowing . Its a term many DJ used throughout the 80's right to the early 90's as a way to brag about their ''lyrics'' and their ''champion sound''
Joe Grind - Its a term as fr as i know (plobably just a song name)
Bossa nova - is a style of Brazilian music created by Antonio Carlos Jobim and João Gilberto and first introduced in Brazil by Gilberto's recording of "Chega de Saudade", in 1958, a song written by Antonio Carlos Jobim, first released as a single, and shortly thereafter as the album by Gilberto, bearing the same title as the song (1959).

Re: WHAT DO THE FOLLOWING PHRASES MEAN
got two more questions (sorry for bumping an old thread but i dont want to make another one)
1) on the song black uhuru anthem off their album anthem, before the song starts michael rose says something that sounds like "ahh!!! skipper george" what does this mean or refer to?
2) when you see photos of rastas or anybody and they are forming triangle using both their hands.

Re: WHAT DO THE FOLLOWING PHRASES MEAN
Thanks kayalion...I got that but as I was more familiar with the christian trinity reference (with Jesus Christ as the son) I wondered why is that use by rastas...in other words, who will be the father, the son and the holy spirit in rasta meanings?
Is that stupid?
thanx for the replies
