bob marley

Post by arize_rootsman »

even though most of all of his hits were recorded at his studio "tuff gong" and i also know his backing band was always "the wailers" so my question is did he ever record root hits for channel one and was he ever backed up by roots radics or the revolutionaries ?

I don't think he ever recorded with those bands. other studios yes, like BLack Ark, Harry J, Island studios, Joe Gibbs, etc. But not Channel One to my knowledge. But I don't pretend to be a specialist..
About the musicians, I read that Bob wanted to play with Sly and Robby but they refused cause they didn't want to betray Aston and Carlton B.
That's all I can tell.

If I'm not mistaken Robbie recorded the bassline for Crazy Baldhead.

I don't know of anything Marley did at Channel One...But several established session musicians would come to play with the Wailers (Chinna, Earl Wire Lindo, Scully...and more)
