Makasound

Post by dorsetdread »

Hi, i just bought Winston Mcanuff's 'Wha The Man A Deal Wid'. Killer LP. I was really impressed also with Makasound. As it was the first title i have on this label, i wondered if anyone recommends any other title's on this label.

Hi,

Like the guys say, nearly all Makasound releases are excellent.

Definately add "On the Frontline" by Black Roots.

Also "Guidance" by the Meditations is worth the purchase.

I thoroughly agree, Makasound is a crucial label!!

For some reason, the Mighty Threes reissue "Africa Shall Stretch for Her Hand" (sic) didn't get a mention here. Well, here it is: Go get it, it's a scorcher! Tune like "Rasta Business" is truly one of a kind, and there are killer dubs included as well...

I agree, nearly every reissue are great. The only albums that I didn't buy from this label are) Leroy Smart that I don't like much and the second chapter of A place called Jamaica (cause I had most of the tunes). Everything is excellent, the last reissues are very good if you don't already have them : Alton Ellis, Many moods and W. McAnuff's first album "Pick hits to click";
