Roots, Rock, Reggae

I always thought this meant the three different origin categories of reggae. Roots= ska. Rock=rockstaedy.and Reggae of course... what does it mean to you?

I always thought of it like this:

Roots~Rastafarian based music and lyrics.
Rock~Like rock music, cause of the guitar.
Reggae~A broader and more recognizable term for the overall music.

rock is jamaica
reggae is both
