"Count Sticky began recording towards the end of mento's golden age of the 1950s. He is a rather obscure mento artist, especially considering the fact that he transitioned to reggae, recording about twenty tracks for Lee Perry and others into the early to mid 1970s. (However, do not confuse him with the reggae percussionist named Sticky (Issiah Thompson), who appeared on hundreds of reggae tracks.)"

It's a nice song and riddim, but I doubt it's Black Ark though. Sounds a little like early Wackie actually.

Thanks.Ron wrote:A few years ago, I played the track to my girlfriend and when I asked her what they were singing, she said it was from a song or nursery rhyme back in her days: "Scornful dogs, nyam dutty pudding".
It's more or less a Jamaican proverb with more than one meaning it seems.
Here's more from "the Jamaica handbook of proverbs" (by Vivien Morris-Brown) :
= Scornful dogs will eat dirty pudding.
= Do not be too choosy. You could end up having to accept worse than you would have chosen for yourself.

That's a very nice song. Was released on the Pressure Sounds compilation as Augustus Pablo & The Upsetters and the song title there is only »Pride«. Is »Black Ark Pride« the title of a 7"? I thought it was previously unreleased.

Re: Secret Black Ark/Lee Perry Productions
It probably is just *Pride*. Don't think it was released on a 7.
A found Black Ark track rather than lost.
Might as well give you a link to the Jah Lion cut as well:
*Roaring Lion / Pride* by Jah Lion & Augustus Pablo
