Bob Schoenfield of Nighthawk RIP

Post by Lion »

"Sad to relate, but Bob Schonfield, of Nighthawk Records, was found
dead in his home in the St Louis area on 10/23, by a good friend.
Many people here may know the excellent collections of roots music
on his label, not to mention outstanding titles by The Itals, Gladiators,Leonard Dillon and Justin Hines. Bob was also responsible for the publishing of a
Jamaican discography that I'm sure will be a reference used for many years
by anyone trying to make sense of the amazing number of titles released
in reggae. His label also had some very choice blues compilations, as well as
at one time a fine Professor Longhair LP.

another true stalwart in vintage jamaican music production.nighthakw early 80's back catalog gave a new breathe and a new start for jamaican trios who would otherwize have fallen in oblivion due to dance hall:itals, gladiators, culture, sam hughjackie brown etc...
may his soul rest in peace
