New UPsetter discography at Smokeyroom.net

Post by Ron »

After 9 months of blood, sweat and tears, but without the blood, the sweat and the tears, I have finally finished updating my Upsetter discography.

With the help of Ronald, Ziggi, Mick Sleeper, Todd and Jeremy 'Lick It Back' Collingwood, I have been able to compile the most comprehensive Lee Perry discography in www-history.
Check it out for yourself at: http://upsetter.smokeyroom.net

I like the fact that you can leave comments. That way the site keeps gathering knowledge.

Your site looks Excellent as usual guys. Great to finally find out who it is singing Paul Bogle on Clocktower. I knew it wasn't Watty , but was leaning towards Max Romeo.

cheers

Thanks Ron and all the collaborators on this wonderful piece of work. I often used this site in the past five years or so to check informations, matrixes, dates… I recently got Trojan SIPPLE OUT DEH: THE BLACK ARK YEARS: THE JAMAICAN 7"S. I was stunned to realized that majority of the tracks were new to me, even if I had several compilations from the Black Ark years. I may be wrong, but I think this compilation is not lisited on your website, at least not on this page:
http://upsetter.smokeyroom.net/albums/index.htm

Suggestion: in further version of the website, there could be a section with suggestion on which albums/compilations to purchased. There are so many albums with Scratch signature that it's easy to get lost or to get doubles. There could be a top 5 albums and top 5 compilations for theme areas.
Most underrated contemporary roots artist: Tiken Jah Fakoly. Selection of compilations I would suggest: Joe Gibbs Productions (Soul Jazz), Don't Call Us Immigrants (Pressure Sounds), We Are Getting Bad: The Sound Of Phase One (Motion), Arkology (Island).
