Wailing Souls - Kingdom Rise Kingdom Fall 12"

Post by vlad »

Finally re-issued by Greensleeves

Another OG which will drop in value, as this is a perfect replica, with original stampers, original label, and not a trace I could pick identifying it is not the one pressed back in the days.

And it will cost you only 6 $:

Love it!

How do you know this? It doesn't say anything about it on the VP site. If you really know, then is it the same with the newly reissued LPs as well? Just curious.

Jahkob: because I received it and compared it with my original VG copy.

There are minor differences in credits, and the label prints slightly different. Original version mentions Roots Radics band below title track, Channel One and Barnabas, re-issue doesn't. This could be related to copyright disturbances: despite reggae artists typically sold their music for good, they want more money after the fact. Bunny Wailer is a great example.

All in all, it is quite obvious to me that all Greensleeves re-issues are near perfect replicas. Seems like they kept original artwork and stampers/masters and - if not - that they created one using top notch equipment, making it impossible (with good ears and great Hi-Fi) to notice any difference.

Consequences:

1. Music available again on analog format
2. It's affordable
3. It destroys your original Greensleeves collection value (a bit frustrating when you own "originals" but come to think about it, its quite funny for the one who spent time & money to assemble an original collection ;)

IMHO: You'd have to be a fool to select on "original" over the re-issue :)
