Vinyl Quality Feedback on Jarrett and Wilson LPs

Post by cvac »

I was just wondering if anyone might be able to give me some feedback on these two LPs, current pressings on Dub Irator. I was wondering specifically about the vinyl quality. Were these pressed in the U.S. or Europe or are they JA-manufactured. I've had bad experiences with JA-manufactured vinyl before so I tend to look for U.S. or European pressings when it comes to reissues.

Here is one:

There is also a Flick Wilson on the same label I was potentially interested in.

Thanks.

Hi cvac, rest assured these 2 LP's have pristine sound quality, reissued by the guys at Digikiller/Deeper Roots & pressed in the USA. I own both so can honestly vouch for them.

Buy with confidence.

cheers

Okay, thanks. I didn't know they were reissued by DKR. The Jah Life/Dub Irator label confused me. I guess labels should be more specific when it comes to info about their reissues and where they are pressed.

I can confirm a very good soundquality for the DKR Wayne Jarrett LP, as well as an incredibly fast shipping from Brooklyn to Germany.

I'd still love to buy it on CD also. Any chance they release it on CD as they did with their two "new" Scientist LPs? Probaby not 'cause I guess the Scientist Albums sold way more than the Wayne Jarrett. No Problem, understandable.

Got the LPs and played each once. Both are good. The Flick Wilson LP might be an acquired taste for some due to his high falsetto voice, but I dig it.

Re: the vinyl quality, I found it to be about on par with the average punk/hardcore reissue these days. The Wilson LP was problem free for the most part, but the Jarrett LP had the center hole drilled too large and the record is off center. Good thing I use a record weight on my turntable...I tried to line it up the best I could and it seemed to work well enough for me to just deal with it.

I might try more DKR related vinyl, but I'd be fine with CD releases honestly. For the two Scientist dub albums they put out, I just bought the CD versions because they were cheaper than the vinyl versions.

They don't press vinyl in JA anymore, the Tuff Gong press has been undergoing maintenance... I have a notion that some western record manufacturing company will soon come and buy whatever equipment there is as there is an acute shortage of capacity...
