Ernie`s Guitar & Amp

Post by I-Lion Tafari »

Ites deh!
As a guitarist I´m always interested in equipment.
What is the brand of Ernest Ranglin`s guitar he used to play in the last years? And what amplifier does he use? Probably a Fender, eeh?

And....is Ernest going to record a new album??

Give thanks I-tinually,
Blessed,

On the album below the bassline, he has to be playing a hollow body. It's a very jazzy album, and the tone he has is incredible. I would also assume a Fender amp, but i've never seen the man live so i'm not totally sure.

Hi I-Lion Tafari

From memory it's a Gibson Archtop, probably a Super400CES - http://www.gibsoncustom.com/flash/produ ... 00CES.html Mind you it may be custom made for him.
The link will get you in the right direction.

No idea on the amp front.

Yes braddaz, this link sent me deep into the web,but with no results. The only info I could find was on the Rocksteady sleave(with Monty Alexander)with this quote"Once in N.Y.,Ernie rang up George Benson to find out where he could find a G.B. Gibson guitar.George cheekily said they were out of print.Later that day George showed up with a Benson guitar for Earnie, having driven from the other side of New Jersey."and on "In Search of the Lost Rhythm" he thanks George Benson for the guitar that was used on that recording, but I've also seen him with a solid Fender on other pics so he has played with various instruments throughout the years.Big Up to one of the big Lions. Yes bredren,

thank you for wise answers. To see that perfect hollowbodies on the Gibson link is a real pleasure and nuff enjoyment. I play a les paul standard which always puts a smile on my face cause dis guitar can sing. But those big jazz guitars can do it better-:)))

Really would like to own one but costs are sky high. Although they are worth every cent.

Will chek for Ernie dvd.
