“I’m sure I’ve got that somewhere”
I was listening to the Soul Jazz Studio One Dancehall CD and was sure I had the Johnny Osbourne “Lend Me the Sixteen” somewhere but failed to find it after searching through my Studio One singles three times. Eventually I thought it must be on a record labelled as something else, dug out a few that I couldn’t remember too well, and there on the b-side of “Rocking Steady” by Bob Marley and the Wailers, labelled as “Rocking Steady Part 2” by Bob Marley and the Wailers and the S.O. Group, was a dub version of “Lend Me the Sixteen” with some of the vocal. I hadn’t played it for about 10 years as “Rocking Steady” is a pretty ropy remix with overdubbed synth. Just another warning that reggae collecting can be dangerous for your mental health… Anybody else got the single?

Yes. So many tunes go under so many names.I found an I Roy classic, Jah come herre, on a Dennis Brown, I Roy, Observer, Heptones 4 cd set. Great tune, it turns up later under a different title, on a red covered box 2cd set called Dub..which incidentally contains none dub tracks such as No Speech no Language by Gregory Isaacs.
