The Evolution Of Dub series, favourites?

Post by babaluma1 »

Sorry not sure if this has been done before but what are your favourites from the box set series The Evolution Of Dub? Also is Evolution Of Dub Vol. 8: The Search For New Life any good and is it the last in the series?

For me probably volume one as it introduce me to so much great music or volume 7.

Probably The Evolution Of Dub Vol. 2 - because I didn't have any of the albums in it

All the other sets I already had 2 or 3 of the albums

Yeah I liked them as I didn't have that many dub albums so it was a great and well packaged way to get some classics and some I had never heard of in one go. Definitely opened me up to some cool stuff. It was nice to read about a greta album on a forum and realise in was in one of these collections without costing me a fortune.

I actually don't have any of those. Should probably buy them before they disappear. They seem to have good quality on the audio and there are a lot of real killers on there. I bought the Jammy Crucial Dub LP which was very nice. Some nice cuts of songs such as Junior Reids - Higgler Move and more from the same era.

They are good to get an overview and then buy the bets ones on vinyl. I got Crucial in Dub on LP having enjoyed the cd from the box.

I realize this is an old thread but I recently picked up Vol. 5 as it was on sale for a good price. I haven't listened to it yet but I'd be curious to hear more opinions on the other volumes in the series. I will probably pick up some more volumes at some point maybe. I noticed that I had two of the albums already in Vol. 1 but almost everything else in the series would be new to me.

7 or 1 for me

The Jammy one too possibly, but I already had 3 of the 4 albums, that was the problem with most of these sets I already had most of the albums, but each one had maybe one on it that I hadn't heard

That aside this series has to be one of the best re-issue series since Blood and Fire's heyday

Edit

Ha ha, just saw I already replied to this topic, with a different set... tastes change I suppose 2 was good for the reason I stated though

I got 7 @t Christmas , it has been a disappointment, with mostly flat sounding 1970s UK dubs.
