Recently got the Jimmy Riley Pressure Sounds comp. Then randomly pulled out an lp I got probably 20 years ago that I'd never really listened to more than once. it's The Uniques - Give Thanks on Joe Gibbs.
[cover=719]
Turns out Give Thanks on the PS comp is also on this album credited to the Uniques, though it's clearly sung solo by Jimmy Riley. It also says all songs by Jimmy Riley and Cornell Campbell, and as far as I can tell there are two songs that are Jimmy Riley solo, or with backing vocals that don't sound like Cornell Campbell. Then there's a Cornell song where Riley is clearly singing backup. And there's a song with two singers who don't sound like either singer. And then, just for fun, the running order listed on the back cover is about 50% accurate. All in all a fun outing.
Pretty nice, if confusing, album, but I don't know much about the Uniques, and I thought it was originally a Slim Smith led venture. Were Jimmy Riley and Cornell Campbell in the original Uniques?
I don't know what the point of this post is. I'm just kind of confused by this record, and it was a sort of random coincidence that I noticed that Riley tune off the recent PS comp was on this old lp I'd barely ever listened to.
Jimmy Riley or Uniques?

Re: Jimmy Riley or Uniques?
That's an LP I've always been curious about. I'm guessing Cornel sings on 'Two Faced People'?
cheers

& after searching I can hear Cornel & Jimmy swapping lead vocals on 'Music Maker' & that's Cornels voice on 'I Will Make It'.
