Gregory Isaacs recent tour
Gregory Isaacs is playing Amsterdam coming wednesday. Did anyone see one of his recent shows? Is the Cool Ruler still on top of things?

No, he is far from being on top of things. If you've never seen him and love his music, then I would say it is worth it to see him. But once is enough. His voice has diminished considerably, and he didn't play for that long when I saw him back in July.

Thanks for the reply. Still a legend worth seeing live once.

I love Gregory and i like to think of his golden age. I saw a video of a recent performance and his voice was destroyed. Smoking too much rock seems to have robbed him of his greatest asset. He will always be loved, but sometimes its better to savour the sweet taste of your imagination in these times.

gregory is the very greatest ever roots artist. but he may well have to retire well soon. shame , it truly is a big pity.

Hi!
I was wondering about his voice which sounded terrible when I saw him in a recent vid. I saw a few of his live shows in the late 80s/early 90s.
That was the real Gregory.

Re: Gregory Isaacs recent tour
i saw him one month ago, and i dont felt anything strange in his voice, anything separately from his age, but i think the essence of his voice is his plaintive tone, and was ok i wanna say that his health seem to be very declined, but in some way it helps his voice style (for sure that my enthusiasm for see him influence this opinion!).
its gregory and the live was great, the only snag was the brevity of his performance, about 50 min., very short.
(sorry for the english im all the time with the dictionary)
