Scientist live on stage
I unfortunately have never been to a Scientist show. What is it like? Since he doesn't sing (at least not that I know of), does he do live dubs? Just curious. Many Thanks.

yeah man...he can mix a live show and add wicked effects just like how he does on all of those albums he has engineered. It's almost as exciting to see him work the sound board as it is to see who ever it is he is mixing! No doubt he makes a huge difference when he is present (and mixing live) at a show.

He was supposed to come over to Edinburgh in the mid-eighties for a 3 the hard way clash with Papa Swi and Youthman but knew he couldn't compete with that and never got on the plane!

Thanks for the info everyone. I wasn't sure if he would just be mixing whomever he is touring with or if he would have his own show dubbing it up. Sounds like I have to catch a live appearance of his either way. I just love his stuff. Purely wicked.
Jesco77, who are those two artists that you mentioned in your post? Are you saying that they're better than Scientist? Hard to imagine that, but then again, I haven't heard any of their stuff. I'll reserve judgement though until I do hear any of their tunes.

It's not to be missed. The bass is so heavy your teeth rattle and you feel it pumping through your veins.
BTW he is on the mixing board for the upcoming Sugar Minott show in San Francisco coming up later this month or early Dec. I do not know if he is touring with Sugar or not.

Irie Vibes- these were 2 Scottish sound systems- Papa Swi Hi-Fi was from Edinburgh (via Ghana) and put on a few good shows with people like the Twinkle Brothers, Dillinger and Tappa Zukie, Youthman was from Glasgow and had a programme on Radio Clyde. I shifted speaker boxes and was occasional doorman for Swi. Great days...!

Sean- well, Swi and Youthman weren't recording artists, so you're right to that extent, they were just local heroes to me, pioneers of the Scottish reggae scene.
