Lloyd Coxsone Killers?

Post by mn418 »

I'm very interested in learning about what Lloyd Coxsone used to play, some of his so called "killers" and favored tunes. It is very easy to find out what Jah Shaka used to play for the most part and his preferred killers but if anyone used to frequent dances by Lloyd Coxsone I'd love to hear some track names you remember. Thanks so much.

You can have a look at this thread I started a few years ago, in which we try to figure out the tunes played in the Shaka, Fatman and Coxone revival clash of '93. (Video included.) http://roots-archives.com/forum/viewtop ... =2&t=93032

Thanks so much for the links guys! I have listened to many of the clash tapes just very rarely do they include a tracklisting. I can obviously pick out a good deal of songs but I was curious to hear songs that people associate with Sir Coxsone.

One that would come to mind for me is Creation Stepper - Homeward Bound on Nationwide 12"...

Well worth checking 12 the hard way... If I remember some of these dubs are on King of the dub rock lips. Great to see people checking lloydie coxsone sound... As errol dunkley would say .. A little way different.. Had some tuff black roots as well as some wicked vocal pots of gold. A big part of uk sound man biznizz for sure... This a coxsone time... Peace sir dickie
