The documentary about the reggae legend Lee Perry opens up in German cinemas on 24. March 2016. If you are around in some of the german cities at the time, then you can go and see it.
The director who is also German followed Perry for about 15 years during a journey through Perry's world of art, music, spirituality and magic. There is also a certain amount of animation and beautiful images.

I saw the film some time ago and although I enjoyed it, i still felt there was something lacking. Of course, interviews with Scratch have a certain entertainment value, but I believe it would have been more useful to include interviews with the (few) still living artists he worked with in those magic days of the Black Ark: Max Romeo, Familyman, the Congos, Chinna Smith... I think that would give a much better insight in the creation process of the most 'upsetting' music that was ever recorded on the island of Jamaica.
