Hi!
You can be sure that every Marley song is strictly original. Bob wrote his songs, sometimes with help of Familyman who was the Wailers` musical director.

Not quite what you mean, but Marley did take the stage to the Stalag rhythm during his last tour in 1980.

greetings for all
its a good site. in theory here says that easy skanking was first released by johnny clarke in 1977. this necessary means that johnny is the original writer of the song?

Hi Abey

Yes, I see what you mean, but as the Johnny Clarke's "Easy Skanking" is on "Tribute To Bob Marley" - http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2 ... light=3826 - I would say Bob wrote it.
Maybe there is an earlier, pre-Kaya album version of it. After all Kaya (the song) is from 1970.
I am sure there is a Marley expert out there who can verify that.

The one that does come to mind is Keep On Skanking over the Black Candle rhythm.

No earlier cut of Easy Skanking, which Bob wrote around 1976 and issued on the Kaya album 2 years later.

Most of the Upsetter/Wailers songs were on custom built tracks, no versioning there - other than that mentioned above (as far as I can recall.)

The Wailers *Rudie* came out the same year as Jackie Mittoo's *Home Made*. As both are on the same riddim I'm wondering which one is the original. I'm guessing Jackie Mittoo, as he was the main man at Studio 1 back in 1966.

Just I've read this on Jackie Mittoo's bio on wikipedia. Dont know if its true.

"In 1970, his song ["Peanie Wallie"](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV6_jqNkpZA) was versioned by The Wailers, becoming the hit "Duppy Conqueror"
