Jimmy Riley R.I.P.

Post by lenroy »

I'm very surprised that nobody here has mentioned the passing away on Tuesday of Jimmy Riley (Tarrus Riley's father, if you're that young) from cancer in the U.S.A. Martin James Norman Riley (22 May 1954 – 23 March 2016), better known as Jimmy Riley, was a Jamaican singer who in addition to recording solo was also a member of the Sensations and The Uniques and was the father of Tarrus Riley. Are our standards slipping that far? Are we lacking the respect of what our forefathers did to bring reggae music to where it is now? My job this week so far has had me working in the London area. I was actually listening to two reggae radio stations, and neither mentioned his passing. What are we coming to?
