Fellow skankers,
Can someone identify the riddim for me?

Didnt know much about Bim Sherman... the crucial cuts LP have a real nice sound. For some reason i thought he was mostly a producer, but did he in fact produced for anyone but himself? Now im reading that he re-recorded his JA 70s classics in India with a full orchestra... looks like a man full of surprises. Eager to hear whatever you guys can share about the man.

That album is called "Miracle" and is a on-u production w/Adrian Sherwood @ Skip Mcdonald. Strings were recorded in London, not India, but the album does sound like Indian music crossed with reggae and to my ears sounds totally natural. Maybe not for everyone but personally i think it's a really beautiful album.
Also like Bim with Singers & Players and his records like Lovers Leap showcase, Across the Red Sea, the Jamaican singles (Pressure Sounds complied but there are other versions) and Danger.
Great singer @ a unique talent. RIP Bim.

PS: Pete Holdsworth did a nice write up on Bim and his career in that Pressure Sounds compilation Tribulation. Well worth reading, and a great disc. As far as i know Bim only produced himself, although he did record for other producers as well.

Bim was a fantastic singer... Sadly missed he also put out a few dj cuts over his vocals by jah stone & big joe.. Presume he had a hand in producing them. Sherwood brought him over to the uk when he was putting out stuff on hit run...love the sound of his voice whatever rhythm he rides.. Haunting...pretty sure he recorded for channel one under Jarrett Tomlinson and pretty sure I've seen something under Bim man..check anything he recorded on those 70's sides.. Scorpio, kismet etc.. Sure I read somewhere he only recorded when he could afford stamper as he didn't like the way ja music industry controlled things.. Peace and love on a warm & sunny day in the uk.. Dickie
