Its a pity that these european releases get remixed for the european record buyer.
Why they seem to think that we would refer these remixes instead of the original JA mix is beyond me.
They seem to think that the european record buyer who may or may not be primarily white would rather hear a weaker mix than the original JA counterpart.
Guess they feel it would sell better to a wider audience and that, at the end of the day, as what it is all about.

Re: Burning Spear - Dub to "Dry and Heavy"
I reckon they got it wrong there. And nowadays the JA mixes are by far the more valuable - although of course this has to do with rarity as well as sound.

Lion, Dry & Heavy had nothing to do with Jack Ruby so it is unlikely to have ever been on Ruby's Fox label, unlike Marcus Garvey which was.

Re: Burning Spear - "Dry and Heavy" (Fox ?)
So the JA mix of *Dry & Heavy* is on Fox and not on Burning Spear's Burning Spear label. Thank you Lion for the clarification.

OK Lion.
Anyone have a list of all Burning Spear LP releases that were released in Jamaica with Spear's own original mixing would be of much interest.
For starters there's
Marcus Garvey (Fox)
Living Dub Volume 2 (Burning Spear)
Dry & Heavy (Burning Spear)
*& maybe*
Man In The Hills (Fox)
Hail H.I.M. (Burning Spear UK)

Re: Burning Spear - Dub to "Dry and Heavy"
Hi
What are the best versions of Living Dub 1 & 2.
I have seen them on both Heartbeat amd Burning Spear label.
I have been told that the Heartbeat re-issues are 1990`s remixes of the original Living Dub 1 & 2 which were initially releases on the Burning Spear label.
Roots Archives only show the Heartbeat re-issues.
What are the better mixes to buy.
Thanks
Dave
