Great tune. But...any explanation for the lyrics? Am I missing something? Because it sounds like the most paranoid lyric of all time. Like his girl has a cold and he assumes it's because she cheated on him with someone who had a cold?

The lyric in question is definitely about infidelity "evidenced" by a head cold. Nothing very strange about the lyric besides the originality. Romance is not often aligned with logic.

Respect to Johnny. It is amazing how much mileage he gets from an effective lyric. The man has great economy and style.

I think it's a bit naive to think JO is singing about just a head cold here.
Song, imo, is clearly about sexually transmitted disease.

It's a song about STDs, not a runny nose. There were quite a few tunes around this time that touched on the subject, Lone Ranger's "Love Bump" is a good example.

What it means?
just a guess, but at night many frogs are out making noise
and some think they're bigger/more important than others?

Thank you for your thoughts on this. I find it really difficult to understand. For the sake of this topic, I transcribed the lyrics for the song, but these lines are the only ones that bother me. I hope someone else can shed some light on this matter.
