Lee Perry Black Ark in Dub

Post by tbroderick »

Is this record a legit Lee Perry production? I was under the impression that is was bogus. Or is it just the CD that isn't legit?

Not sure how accurate this info is?!
Archive member 'Ron' would be the one to ask.

"black ark players - black ark in dub (1980)

This collection of tracks is about 50% Black Ark, 50% bogus. Dubious titles cast doubt on their validity eg) "Rasta Man" is a butchered version of "Open The Gate", "Loving" is a dub of George Faith's "Guide Line" with weirdo effects thrown in" And I guess track 1 called, 'Jah' is a production from king tubby's studio.

Originally released by Starlight records in 1980. It is accurately attributed, not to Lee Perry, since he was by this time temporarily out of business, and not to the Upsetters, but to the "Black Ark Players" The cover gives production credits to Aisha Morrison ( Perry's ex wife ), who happens to possess a substantial collection of Perry's recordings."
