Jolly Brothers

I have Conscious Man, by the Jolly Brothers. I think it is an incredible album. Serious music. I have never heard Consciousness. Is it as good as Conscious Man? Does anybody know what happened with the group?

Hi Todd

Some of your questions will probably be answered on this previous thread - http://www.roots-archives.com/forum/rea ... #msg-14974

Hi Todd

Did you manage to get hold of it recently or have you had it years?

Greetings lumbani,
The Consciousness album, imho, in no where near as good as the Conscious Man album. All the subject content seems to be about delivering a personal message to the lead singer's (or someone's) old girlfriend. Although, I'm sure we're all supposed to be able to relate to the content, the righteous message seems to have been lost or skewed in the process. However, the album does have some nice Jolly Brothers vocals and track 2 (I think it's called 'Leave Him') stands out, imho. Worth a listen, fe true, but no where near as good as Conscious Man.

Roots,
Jah Chicken
