I'm hoping someone can help me identify the only reggae song on a mixtape I have. It's from around 1980-81, most likely recorded from the BBC John Peel radio show (but not a from a Peel session).
I think the title is Propoganda (with an "o" not an "a" if I remember correctly from the long lost original insert). It's not the Leroy Smart song. Haven't been able to find it on YouTube yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was on there somewhere....
Thanks for reading.
Here are the lyrics:
Rude boys...bad guys
Jah know...never live too looong
So come let us write
(A-B-C)
So come let us write
(E-F-G)
And no follow propoganda
Baldhead
No follow propoganda
Natty dread
You no hear the propoganda
The bad man - them are trying fi bring down
You don't hear the propoganda
Bad man - them are trying fi bring down
So come let us learn
(Oooh read)
So Come let us learn
(Oooh write)
And no follow propoganda
Baldhead
No follow propoganda
Natty dread
So come let us play (pray?)
So come let us sing
(His song)
In the house
(Of Jah)
So come let us do
(His right)
In the sight
(Of Jah)
etc.
