im not so keen on todays reggae myself althought there are a few exceptions, i find the reggae in JA these days is terrible and no matter how many times i listen to some tunes which are hits in JA i just can't seem to enjoy them, all that shouting gets on my nerves sometimes and same old riddims, but the european stuff i like, lots of nice reggae comming out of France these past few years.......

Yet there are righteous works from even today!

Sounds from the likes of Jah Shaka, Keety Roots, Rhythm & Sound, Blue & Red, Conscious Sounds, Jah Warrior, Groundation...

The immerse power & spirituality shines through strong here!! Sure, you can complain about the sound not being analogic and all the modern digital technique eating away the vibrations and all that usual blah-blah, but you can't deny the pure power behind these tunes! The very same spirit that was first really introduced by Burning Spear through his "Door Peep Shall Not Enter" can still be heard today.

Equipment may change, but the players of instruments shall remain true - ever faithful, going forwards ever, backwards never!

For "the players of instruments will be there"!

In addition to Youthman`s list - don`t forget `bout the band called **Midnite** - great stuff.

... but also... today you won`t find the vocal groups like in yesterdays (e.g. **Viceroys, Matumbi, Wailing Souls, Silvertones**).

Where are the real beautiful harmonies?!

theres a lot of new/local roots bands/ sound systems out there that just havent been heard worldwide.

here's some San Diego vibes:

http://www.myspace.com/dubshacksounds
http://www.myspace.com/cautionsd
http://www.myspace.com/onenationequal
http://www.myspace.com/burntstemsandseeds
http://www.myspace.com/jahrootshifi
http://www.myspace.com/jirieinchristreggae

I've been working with Roots Covenant in the studio for several months so expect a LIVE INSTURMENT cd to come out sometime 2007, in the meantime check out some demos on their page. as far as the other bands i dunno what kinda releases they have coming but hit em up and ask. support the scene and please buy their music, thats the only way to keep reggae music from dying.
respect.
