Africa Must Be Free By 1983 Dub

Missing this badly on vinyl after foolishly selling it years ago (ie before CDs appeared).
Just wondered if anyone had bought one of these that seem readily available on Ebay -
"TOP CLASS REGGAE Dub, All time classic ON NEW FACTORY DIRECT MINT VINYL LP"
Are they good represses/reissues or whatever they are?

Any feedback gratefully received.

I check the repress in JA for a friend
It was a bad pressing.
reissues only on cd so far i know.

I´ve seen a repress in vinyl in this small town so it shouldn´t be very hard to find.

I bought this vinyl back in '79 when it was released. It's on the Rockers label.

The last track, Sufferer Dub, ends abruptly. It just cuts off, then the groove runs to the center of the disk, and the tonearm picks up.

I've always wondered if that was intentional, or if it was fixed in reissues. Anyone know?

I always thought these sudden endings (which also happen on a few Coxsone tracks) were caused by the tape running out... it's particularly dramatic on the Pablo cut though where you end up more waiting for it to stop than listening to the track. Led me to think of some other tracks with strange sound effects, like the last track on Barrington Levy's "Shine Eye Gal" which suddenly gets much louder, "Changing Times" by the Meditations which seems to have been recorded over another track which hasn't been erased properly, and "Consider Me" by Jennifer Lara (not sure of the original cut of the rhythm, might be "Movie Star") which has a squeaking drum or hi-hat pedal throughout.

I think you are right.
I remember thinking that there was some significance in the film "If" when it suddenly becomes black and white, but I read years later that they had run out of colour that day and only had black and white left.
Basically pushing the limit and getting the most out of a small budget.

I bought "Africa.." in '79 on Rockers, but think yourself lucky as my tonearm didn't have auto pickup! Ouch!

The 2 turntables I regularly use (a Pro-Ject and a Thorens) don't have auto pick-up either and there's many a reggae album ends with a trip across the label for the tone-arm if you don't get out of your seat quick enough! Or in the case of my copy of "Better Dub" bits of the label are pressed into the last track (Gready G, since made available on one of the Soul Jazz compilations thankfully). Means you get to hear the ends of tracks repeating themselves forever if there are any Relief Records fans out there.

I'm using a Rega Planer 3 with Elys cartridge. Very, very happy with that.
