I disagree with some posts in this topic.
Of course the "golden era" of reggae roots has gone, but we have new artists with a lot of energy and I think we must support, I think in nasio fontaine & tiken jah fakoly...our time always have his thing.

you guys are right, they can never match the level.... but i beleive that only may be true due to the state that this generation of music business is in these days with so much music availible to be downloaded or burned. just think about how hard it is to turn up a profit. look at martin campbell's releases from late 90's to 00's most of his stuff is out of print because 80-90% of his fan base got his album through downloads or burned cds. that is proof of how strong that affects the music. im afraid that in the near future we will have nothing but the classics to listen to because new music will be extinct. its trully up to us to keep the music alive.

Yes But if you think you can change the path
reggae music is headed to now DO IT NOW.
Precisly YOU CANT, reggae is something that is
more than music, its a culture/way of life
Of cousre it WILL NEVER DIE
but if itsd MODERN AUDIENCE want it what can I or even YOU do
Think about it; before your quick to critize,.

beleive me, im not quick to critisize. i work in the music industry and I've seen how much downloads affect sales. I can get print outs of sales prior to napster and up to now and you will compare and see the huge drop that downloads have caused. we CAN do something. why give up with out even trying? that statement is just like saying we can't find a cure for aids or any other disease. its surely worth a try isnt it? would you encourage them to just give up and stop trying? i think not. its the same thing my friend, we cant just give up because it seems hopeless. that way of thinking contradicts the very message that reggae music promotes. I think about this everyday and its a very serious matter. im not just pulling this outta my ass.

trevor i didnt mean to put you on the spot, i just feel strongly about this matter and I hope it can be taken serious becuase this forum has many users who im sure havent taken this into consideration when they press the download or burn button. i personally DO download, but its purley to preview the record as I will absolutlely go out and buy the record where it is availible. I prefer to own the real albums to have the artwork/info on it. and not to mention the actual copies are way better sound quality than these mp3's out there.
