Yes 99thfloor - probably was your recommend that came to mind when I saw the brown cover edition of Rebel Music for a nice price.

Agreed all editions look good. I didn't check if the earlier polka dot cover has any tracks not on the new Volume 1 or 2. Of course some tunes are also on other anthologies so we have them many times by now.

I actually once compared the old "polka-dot" to the new "brown cover" in connection to a discussion on a other forum, so I searched out that post, here's the tally:

"*...there are 16 tracks missing from the old version and 12 new ones instead, which leaves 12 they have in common.*"

The "brown cover" *Vol. 1* has been recently re-released, so should be commonly available and cheap, the *Vol. 2* (which I think has no tracks in common with the old 2-LP) is a bit rarer and more expensive.

The tracks themselves are of course available elsewhere, but they're nice compilations. :-)

@JJ
Congrats on buying the Majestarians track. Such a wonderful track... one of my Black Ark favorites for sure. May i ask how much you bought this for? Hope this is not rude, i'm just thinking i might buy it too.

Haven't bought much lately, but still got a copy a repress, originally produced by Derrick Harriott on the legendary Crystal label:
Althea Forrest & Togetherness ‎– Hey Mister 12" - licensed by JAMWAX (MAXI 03). A real nice, funky groove, Charriot style. Repress quality seems pretty good too. Although its not exactly reggae...

Balughetto, yes a catchy tune, can't believe it hasn't been reissued. Paid gbp18 for that one, mint condition.

I'm looking forward to Jamwax reissue Leroy Brown's Blood A Go Run on 12", due out in this month (Dec).

cheers

99th I was thinking of picking up that Black Roots CD to replace my old cassette but I shall pass on it due to vinyl origins. I can always transfer my cassette onto CD:)
Nice haul of music too!

cheers

It's not like it was awful sounding, even though there was obvious vinyl noise, and I didn't have the albums from before. But I thought it would have been from master tapes, and since the disc is rare (I wonder if it was taken out of print early) it is also usually expensive.

Bristol Archive Records has done a vinyl reissue of the first album that I think may be from tape, maybe if **Dubmart** should see this he can clarify. But that was a limited edition, so it is again hard to find and expensive. Can recommend their *Reggae Singles Anthology*.

OK - at least ten great songs on the Tanamo collection.

Some magnificent horn solos and backing from the Skatalites on the early stuff. Second half is sessions from the 70s in a reggae style where some touch on calypso classics from the hotel band repertoire.
