Wailing Souls on Live & Learn

Live & Learn isn't a label that I buy much of. The Wailing Souls released 3 albums on Live & Learn. How good are these albums? Are they worth buying? Which is the best & why?

Wailing Souls - Lay It On The Line (1986)

Wailing Souls - Kingston 14: Denham Town (1987)

Wailing Souls - Reggae Ina Firehouse (1991)

let me tell u something, get them all they are all off da hook no disapointment in any of them ull love "reggae ina firehouse" though all 3 are good but my favorite is "reggae ina firehouse" all 3 are excellent albums.

I have "lay it on the line" and I really love it... Maybe it's not a killer but has really nice tracks, all tracks are good, and nice lyrics too.. listen to "bum rap"... incredible!
It just happens to me that when I listen to that kind of records I think "wow, this would have been a top album if live instrumentation had been used" ever happen to any of you? maybe I'm just an old fashioned roots fan...

ina di live & learn records I own "reggae ina firehouse" and its a excelent set of roots music, dont miss it!

if u have "jam session" from mighty diamonds and u love it, then ull love "kingston 14" becuase after "kingston 14" some of the riddims were covered by the mighty diamonds the following year i think.

There is a rare Live and Learn 7" I have by the Wailing Souls called "Back Back" which is a wicked early version of the tune they later released and remixed as "Shark Attack" on the "all over the world" LP. you can find a few different versions of that production on the Chaos label 12" but they still do not compare to this 7" version I speak of. aDAm

Thanks for the replies, I have Jam Session, by the Diamonds and I hardly listen to it apart from the track "Feather In A Richman's Hat"-which was the reason I bought it. So I am a bit tenative still to pull the trigger on Reggae Inna Firehouse.

Would you rate Inchpinchers or Stranded on Greensleeves as better buys than the Live & Learn albums?

hell yeah "inchpinchers" and "stranded" are defenetly worth getting both albums backed by roots radics i think but all their albums are worth getting.

I read your posts and listened to both Inchpinchers and Reggae Inna Firehouse last night. If you like older, more rootsy rhythms and enjoyed Wild Suspense or Firehouse Rock, you would almost certainly be better off buying Inchpinchers. The latter half of Inchpinchers is very rootsy and among the Wailing Souls best. If you enjoy more danceable almost rub-a-dub type rhythms you would be happy with Reggae Inna Firehouse. I agree that both are good albums. However, they are from different times and the rhythms are different (the vocals are great on both).
If you do find that the newer stuff is to your liking-check out Equality as well. This album gets no respect and can be found on ebay for US $.01 but, IMHO, is worthy of the Wailing Souls legacy and a very nice modern roots disc.
