Hi Sean

No, he is a tenor sax player - Curtis Ousley. "Memphis Soul Stew" is his most famous track. Absolute scorcher. If you like that sort of thing , of course

WELL, THANK YOU LION.now, i too have seen/heard some rubbishy stuff on culture press and on esoldun. so overall i do agree with you. what do you think happens?are these folks taking crap, rejected dubs from various artists and recycling them into a saleable commodity?if so, why dont more folks boycott rhino and esoldun ?crap dub gives reggae dub a bad name..eradicate lousy dub by a true boycott of vendors of crappy dub.buy only reputable dub .

Producers/Artist sell there stuff to those labels.

Producers/Artists need money/Labels/Wholesale/dealers need money etc.
Those labels are cheap to buy here in Europe/UK.

I boycott those labels included Trojan.

dub is the very best genre within reggae music.as a result there isnt much bad dub about, other than these awful rhino releases that thankfully are disappearing gradually from our shops and 2nd hand market stalls.lee perry sure has produced some poor dub at times too.

i bought lately a compilation of dub syndicate on u sound..though its got many tracks, it leads one into false elation due to its promise to play prince fari's amazing VIRGIN... where he lambasts virgin for the capitalist leeches they are..but it only gives you a minute of that great song that i heard on a 12 inch disc 24 years ago..so, bad one , on u sound...

An important remark has to made now:

UK and US Rhino labels are not the same company. US Rhino does excellent re-issues of (mostly?) Atlantic label vintage issues and is perfectly legal and sounds good too. I don't think they are re-issuing any reggae though.
