Hi Leggo Rocker

It was probably my father-in-law! ;-)

Had a quick squint at your article, but will have to read it in full tomorrow. Looks incredible. 5,000 miles!!!!!!

Incidentally, you'll pleased to learn I should have "Africa...." by Thursday!!

It's a great LP, dub version - or vocal version - both excellent.

Even after all these years it sends shivers down my spine when I here Hugh Mundell sing, 'Let's All Unite"

Brilliant stuff.

And 5,000 miles. To paraphrase a well known saying: miles go quickly when you're having fun.

Unforgettable experience. The article doesn't do it justice - due to the editor wanting more emphasis on the bike than the road trip.

Hi Leggo Rocker

It is one of my fave dub albums and I am looking forward to having on vinyl again after all these years. I do have the CD, but it isn't quite the same is it. Particularly love that pic on the back cover!

Excellent article. Can't imagine riding 800 miles a day on a bike!

Thanks ever so much 6anbatte- I have a few here and there by BB (who I saw in concert once) and Muddy, Sonny Boy and Charley Patton (those 2 on Yazoo albums, the Patton one taped!) but nothing by the others so lots to explore.

On the turntable last night: King Tubbys Presents Soundclash Vol 1 (quote from the missus "Is that guy singing about bananas??")

Cheers

Hi Jesco77

If you don't have the Muddy Waters I mentioned buy it!!!!!!! A lot of it is just him and Ernest "Big" Crawford on upright bass. He is playing slap bass and this is 1947!!!!! Unreal!

I don't have "King Tubbys Presents Soundclash Vol 1" so this is completely lost on me!

It's a track by Bananaman, introduced by Fuzzy Jones, announcing him at fever pitch. The whole album sounds strictly one-take stuff (acknowledged by Tubbys in the sleevenotes as regards the Gregory Isaacs cut ("The Ruler")). Early digital, 1988, so beyond the scope of RA I guess (I haven't checked), but I really like the Johnny Osbourne track on it.

Ah, I see! 1988 is a bit late for me!

"Can't imagine riding 800 miles a day on a bike!"

My butt wasn't all that impressed either. After a couple of days I realised that the bike and then saddle were getting so hot that my sore cheeks were actually burnt! I spent the rest of the trip with a towel on the saddle try minimise the burning.

It took literally weeks for the callouses left on my butt to heal!

So an unforgettable experience in more ways than one!

And I've just had an email from Harley offering me an Electra Glide for two weeks this summer. Bring on the summer!
