Rasta painting

Post by omar »

As not only a roots addict, but also a painter I would be interested to learn about rasta painting and visual arts - do you know of any books, collections or exhibitions on this subject?

many thinks for the link here to my "rasta-boy-painting-in-progress".

This painting is just one of a series of many, primarily Jamaican, portraits that I have completed over the past few months, several are of rasta bredren. They are all on my blog, many with stories about the individual pictured.

I hope you do not mind me adding the link to the main blog here, this is not a commercial plug for myself -- these paintings are currently not for sale -- I hope to exhibit them all one day soon.

I appreciate any and all feedback -- look forward to hearing from the members of this community.

I know this is no longer on the issue of rasta painting - but I just need to ask ranking trevor a quick question:

do you remember any of the titles of the sides you recorded or the labels? I would try to track them down if I can.

at my local reggae shop, Reggae Fever in Zürich Switzerland, I found a 12' of waiting in the park by the chantells and one Jah Barry on the Phase One label (prod Roy Francis). However, on other sites his name is written Jah Berry.
To add to my confusion Roots Archives also gives Jah Berry as an aka of Prince Hammer.

Just curious to see if I can track down you or you partner.

Best from Omar

Ites

iman record sides many sides
but i 2 favoite

BLUE INC 7 - song title - Black woman, Irie Woman - 1979

COXSONE 7 - song title - baylon intervension - 1971 - ft jah barry

the 12'' i recorded are limited but i went studio 1 to do some sides as well as black ark with scratch.

Trenchtown ghetto mek it hard for i to go to country and chill out. because that is where i used to get inspiration from. but i bredrin in trechtown just help i&i to write. And i put things back into the ghetto i born in. i buy a likkle studio fe the youth&youth to come inna there an just write get their head outta crime and violence and uplift themslefs with sweet reggae music. so eveything irie. jah guide an protect i all through disya time and all these 40 years of DJ'ing. anyway jah bless.

So, Trevor, what about the In Fine Style, or was it Rub A Dub Style for Virgin's Front Line label in 1978, a successful album?
