the worldwide appeal of reggae
i was in the ex USSR republic of Georgia of late. On a quiet street in Batumi there was a giant, beautifully crafted mural on a wall, of Marley, surrounded by ganja leaves, my the drawing was fabulous. JAMAICA in big letters was written below it. you know, reggae is popular worldwide, with no exceptions in reality

I have many regular (daily) listeners to my station. Worldwide, for sure. Northern Europe has an especially huge reggae/dub/ska following. Also, regular listeners the Russian Federation and Czech Republic (at this very moment, 3 Czech listeners).

yes, i took some great photos of the said Marley mural last time, back in 2004. this time i never had a camera, but my oh my, how good it was to be able to see a Marley mural from my flat window on Showmiani street, Batumi, Georgia. In one of David Katz' books, Cocoa Tea says clearly that reggae is a universal mover of people, in all corners of the world. And he's right too. In India in 2005, i watched cafe staff dancing with glee as roots tunes rippled through the cafe's interior. the staff stood and danced. Nearby, another cafe's door says "healthy vegetarian food , Rastafari music"..whilst the Namgyal cafe, next to the Dalai Lamas official home, plays roots all day long.

Hi Fadel
marley remembering concert, family concert, not Bob himself. There was a huge tour with a huge huge concert in Addis, in Meske Square, it was 2 years ago I think. A lot of my friends went there but I was not here yet.

In Beijing, China the first reggae bar opened in March 2006 by a local Chinese guy. They spin roots reggae all day every day.
