There's "Authorised Version" & "Rockers Time Now" both albums from Johnny Clarke released in 1976.

Authorised Version contains mostly other artist/composers songs (like the title already says,...) re-cut by Johnny... "Rockers Time Now" contains 12 tracks, wich 4 of them are classic remakes: "Satta Massagana" & "Declaration Of Rights" (The Abyssinians), "Ites Green and Gold" (Burning Spear) and "Them Never Love Poor Marcus" (Mighty Diamonds).

Later on, in the beggining of the 90's Virgin Records released a compilation under the name "Authorised Rockers", which is nothing but his two 76' albums together in one cd... that's why the name "Authorised Rockers", a comprehension from "Authorised Version" & "Rockers Time Now"...

I'm a big fan of Johnny Clarke & his rockers style... And many of his remakes I enjoy even more than the original one!

Blessings,
DJ Guno Santos

For me Johnny is hugely underrated.

Especially this releaase:

This LP is a monster hit. Perhaps my favourite of everything I have heard of JCs (hard choice as there's lots of LPs by JC and good ones too).

I understand you can book JC to play - I'd love to be able to raise the cash to have him come sing at a private party, that would be so so cool.

Lion, agreed 100%.

I had intended to load a 24 hour lovers rock loop on my radio station for Valentines Day. But Mr Harley-Davidson came along and I've done very little else but ride...

More tunes soon though!
