I have a solution for that problem. All recently arrived stuff goes in a seperate box. I keep this close so I can dip into it regularly to make sure I give all recent arrivals plenty of air (ear) time.
Then with the rest I try hard to rotate so it all gets a listen to from time to time.
I also have a special 'top ten selection' box. Into this box I put my current big favourite tunes, so I can find them easy when I want to listen to them.
If I am really in doubt what to play I pick at random. there's so little really awful reggae (especially in my collection) that I rarely pick a tune that isn't worth playing.
My main problem is trying not to buy stuff I have already got! I need to catalogue my stuff but already there's too much for me to list unless I hire myself a 'Private Secretary' (G Isaacs).
So recently I decided to split the Disco 45s by LABEL and record number rather than artist. So I easily know which gaps in that labels catalogue I need to fill.
LPs I still have divided into sections by Artist or producer or mixer or backing band. Although with reggae this is not easy as what do you put a Revolutionaries Dub LP produced by Linval Thompson under? Revs or LT? I've yet to answer this problem! Maybe I need to also divide the LPs by label, not artist.
BUT... I don't complain, these are all very nice problems to have!
