I can't remember what famous artist said Richard Ace was Jamaican's best vocalist, but he certainly may be JA's best soul vocalist. He literally sets the mark for true disco-reggae on this lp, covering many U.S. standards. His take on Marley's She's Gone is over the top and out the yard and also occurs as a TR Groovemaster twelve. And for roots/sufferers sounds, he gives forth Ghetto Nation which has a credit to Toy Robinson but seem to me was a massive funk hit by... you know, uh...

pretty much classic Aggrovators instrumentals slowed down and soloed sentimentally by Rolando, though someone blows a fat trumpet on one of 'em, Bobby Ellis? No Cornell or Johnny vox, they must've stepped out for air. Drum Song is the standout, has that night peeper effect that's on other mixes too.

side one disappoints with slowdance-like ballads, but by Caught in A Trap, (ironically) you start to hear the lovers rock potential, which IS fully realized on the b-side. Though I want always to bump the turntable speed, the album ends with 3 absolutely sublime songs, like Sunday Mass on Orange Street.
