Technically I have no problem with podcasting. I can do it easy and I have plenty of bandwidth to play with.

I'm only worried about being branded a pirate. I don't want to be a rip off man and mentioned in the same sentence as people like Abraham or worse, get sued or have my server turned off!

From my perspective, I'm providing a small portion of their recording, in 64 kbps mono MP3 (low quality), so it does more to make people aware of them as an artist than it does to provide an alternative to purchasing their music. I'm not sure of the technicalities of it legally, but I beleive I'm doing more towards promoting the sales of their albums rather than hurting their sales.

When I told Mikey Dread about my podcast featuring him, he seemed psyched to see it. When doing shows that focus heavily on one album like the Phase One or Royals, I try to make sure to link to the albums I featured heavily on the show to encourage people to buy them if they enjoy them.

If you'd care for a "podcast listener" to chime in on this topic, what Algoriddim says is absolutely true (in my case). I am a big fan of these podcasts and download and listen to them, sometimes 2,3 times or more. I get to listen to tunes I otherwise might not ever get to hear. If I like them, I'll search out the lp or cd if possible, to buy for my collection. I'm grateful for represses in that I can actually obtain some of this great music. However, in some cases, the originals are not readily available. In that case, I try to get them in mp3 or some other format. But I do buy most of my music. Whether or not that is supporting the artist or some huge corporation, I don't really know.
I cannot attest to the legality of it, but from a strictly listener standpoint, I for one, do not rely on these podcasts as a sole source of music, but rather more of a reference for it. Before the advent of digital music where you could hear a snippet or two of a song without actually buying the album or cd, one would have no other way to hear new music, except for on the radio. And good luck finding these tunes anywhere on the dial nowadays--except for these podcasts.
So, please keep on podcasting for those of us who appreciate your efforts and, even more so, the great sounds you put out for us. If possible, please post the tracklistings so we know what we are listening to and what to search the record stacks for!

I, for one, will be eternally grateful and eagerly look forward to it. May it come to pass soon.

Nuff respect and gratitude to you, Leggo.

That's one of the things I try to do as well with the podcasts is list everything that is being played and what album it is on:

I find that most podcasts are good about this, although some have little info if any about what they're playing.
