RECORDS OR CD'S

CDs are better cause there's often bonus tracks and you can play it in the car...I do like hearing LP transcription on CD, I think there's more warmth and bass on LPs. However, there are so many Reggae and Jazz LPs that will probably never make it to CD, like certain Marion Brown on Impulse (jazz)

i'll stick with records, and i like custom made cd's from my protege's anyway.

Always a question of pocket for me:
I much prefer records, but most re-releases are
on CD, then I´m forced to buy the CD. If there´s
neither a current vinyl repress nor a CD re-release
available, then you´re forced to hunt either
the original vinyl or a later repress on ebay

gotta be vinyl for me. although they take up much room, a collection looks good. i have 7 or 800 vinyl LPS/12S and over the last few years getting shelving built, and then rebuit can be a hassle, but worth it. my daughter (15) has a good cd collection of dance etc but i always encourage her interest in music no matter what it is or what format it comes in. Vinyl is king. Analogue sounds original.

Although there`s an analogue-trimmed cd player called rega planet which uses burr-brown chips which provide a vinyl sound on cd. Playing an Ernest Ranglin CD with it is great fun. This sounds very similar to vinyl.

There are tube cd players for the right sond. Not bad.

Some people prefer cd cause it`s a cheap thing. Analogue business needs much more money: A fine cartridge costs around 300 pounds. Service for the record player needs to be paid, too.

But it`s worth it. I put some high end cables 100% silver behind the record deck. From that day on the music started breathing.

I don`t know if a cd would be playable in 100 years. A record will be - forever!

I prefer vinyl.

That said, even more important to me is hearing the music I want to hear. There have been times I've had to settle for a format I wouldn't ordinarily choose rather than go without a particular album.

Yesterday I stopped by my usual used music store. Went through the vinyl first and found five or six albums. Some I'd been looking for, but a couple were complete surprises.

Then I looked through the CDs and found a couple more albums I wanted. I'd rather these were on vinyl, but that's the breaks.

There are a few things I haven't been able to find in the store, but I know can be had off of iTunes. If enough time passes and I still can't find them on vinyl or CD, I will probably go for the download versions.

In the end, what matters most to me is hearing the music. In an ideal world, we'd get the choices we want, but this world is far from ideal.

LP's WONT LAST FOREVER

Its a known fact that every time you play analogue source (tape, LP, 7 INCH)it deteriorates, so how will it last forever

CD's can damage but not from play, from leaving them in sunlight or scrating the disk

i love vinyl to and i aslo love cd, but.......

Its more about what you are listening to rather than what it is on. you can play Soul jazzs "studio one roots" on vinyl or cd. Either way its going to be excellent. Vinyl takes up a lot of space(speaking from experience)Though Recently my Ipod containing 5000 tunes was destroyed and a good amount of those tunes were on no other format.. Ive been thinking of converting some vinyl to mp3 and getting rid of the vinyl, but im afraid this computer technology isnt secure enough that i wont lose that album due to some ipod dropping or some computer crash.

I love all the vinyl i have but i also love i cd's and i tapes too. it really nah matter to me

i-man grew up in the 50's, with on 7 inch 45's and wireless but as time moved on i learn the differnet formats and use all of dem.

As long as i can hear mi sweet reggae music me nah care what format.
