Shot in the dark here. I have a tape of one of his Radio London broadcasts from prob 79 or 80.
I have been trying to identify a track from this, the only words being 'Marshall General'. It was a bit disco ish. Based on the Why oh Why riddim.
Any ideas?

For those who don't know David Rodigan, check out my podcasting page. I have put a piece of an interview David Rodigan had with U Roy (tape was dated 1-10-1987) twenty years ago (I am getting old).

Thanks for that Rootsmanx

That brings back memories. I recently found an old ticket stub from a Gregory Isaacs gig (backed by the Roots Radics) at the Top Rank Brighton from 1980!

Now we're on a nostalgia trip I recently found I still had a bit of paper with the autographs of Joseph Hill, Ralph Walker, Ansel Collins and Ranchie McLean from Culture's concert in Edinburgh in 1978- really nice guys, I met them backstage, just a fan thing.

I had a couple of tapes of Rodigan including one with an endless cut of Heavenless, but unfortunately not one of his clash with Barry G where they played numerous cuts of Sleng Teng, that was great!

Hi Jesco77

Excellent.

You've now got me wondering if I have some old Rodigan tapes tucked away in draw at my parents house. Mind you, that is probably massive amounts of wishful thinking.

I'm sure I still have that one of Heavenless, it also had Freddie McGregor singing "Can't get you out of my mind" and a talent contest, but it's in a box full of other stuff including a lot of house music taped off a Chicago radio station, Bad Boy Bill and DJ Sneak before he was famous, but that's for another thread on another site somewhere.

In reality, my folks have probably recorded Simon and Garfunkel over them!

Actually, I am going to have nightmares about that now. Find the treasured tapes, put them on and ..."Like a bridge........."!!!!! I really wouldn't be able to take that.

Hi!

Been digging & sniffing around my tape archives. I have the 84 clash on tape which was a one hour broadcast. Also got the 85 clash which is a 2 hour show. The original JA airplay was around 6 hours.

Also found a show of the Dennis Brown story, the tribute to Peter Tosh show and the Tribute to King Tubby show.
Tape quality varies from ca. ex to vg.
Cheers,
I-Lion
