the decline of black echoes

As a long time reader of the british music paper/magazine Black Echoes I've long noted the decline in the volume of reggae coverage in it. Its been on my mind for years, wondered that all you guys think...

While Johm Missurri does a professional job, he only gets 5 pages a month! Enough for maybe two interviews. There weren't any reggae artists on the front cover for well over a year 2004-05. While they must keep going in a compeditive media, must they forget their roots?

I no longer subscribe, only getting it occasionally, and assume others stopped too???

Unfortunately, i've never found any other regular publication to replace it. Riddim magazine is pretty good, but nothing like echoes used to be.

What does anyone think?

i used to buy it every week after school, it was very informational so try to collect them when i can obtain them. love that paper.

Echoes is drift away from there long time readers.
There are a black music magazine it was BLACK ECHOES and now a day Echoes.!!!????
And the music fashion ina UK is change into hip hop/drum&bass/house&garage/jungle etc.

Reggae market is now ina France/Germany see ther magazine's and there labels and concerts.

I still buy it, I think the pre section and news from yard are OK, the albums reviews just tend to be Greensleeves/VP/Soul Jazz releases, the Northern Soul section tells you all about their mates but not much about the music, they've more or less dropped the house bit and it's full of jazz reviews of stuff I'm never likely to (want to) hear... bring back Cyril Saunders, Kris Needs and JS O'Connell!

Just been reading some of my 1976 and 1977 copies which, lets face it, was smack bang in the middle of the golden age of Reggae and guess what - some people were writing in to complain that Reggae wasn't getting enough coverage in Echoes! Everything goes full circle.

Given time I could do that. I would have to post them as scans because the the paper used for Echoes was poor quality and the text doesn't OCR well. What would be the best place to post them?

It would be interesting to know what interests people the most?
