Re: Jimmy Riley
mm, "sufferer" is no more a roots category??
I use and hear it since i had start my roots collection lol, it mean "suffering vibe" for me, i mean "sad/hard/melancholic"(inquietant?) roots... and Jimmy have lot of too "kool/peace/positive etc etc" vibes, it dont give me really emotions... Well, maybe "sufferer" its an unofficial word for it and im in a confusion since longtime...
For me the good roots its a sad cry about pain and misery, the best vibe when the melody and the singer are goods.
I like too "positive" roots when its very great albums as "Marcus Garvey" of Burning Spear by exemple.
My first music that i have love really before discovering the underground roots was The Pink Floyds, "the wall" first, now the best melancholic music and singers that i know are the old Jamaican reggae, bless!
(Its why i can LOVE a album that not a lot like and dont like an album that everyone love lol, its just a feeling point in the songs... Its not really that i dont like the happy vibes, in general its well played and singed, but often it make me a bit indifferent... I really dont care about The Maytones album "Boat to Zion" by exemple, but im crazy with their song "who can't hear will feel", see...)
By the way i know another roots lovers who have exactly the same tastes, but its rare when i meet one. When i meet one in general we like and dont like at 95% the same albums!
Then im sure that we are a particular category of roots lovers, we cant be so differents with lot of roots lovers and have exactly the same tastes, im not a rare dumbass with strange tastes lol!*

yes i! dats exactly my point of view sometimes me catch an album jus becca one song or riddim it mus make me feel something or 'ave a swing ting.
but the matter is dat we all are in the same mood we like roots and dat's fine and our purpose is not to let the players and musicians roots die or fade away at same time teach someting to the youths ho listen the new roots and digital tings.
if yu listen to Maytones "Funny man" album has realy good vibes

I have as 500+ old roots albums from "hard" vibe now... (or maybe im going to open a new topic with a selection of my favorites "sufferers" albums soon, i guess it can really help some people as us...)
Bless all roots lovers.

yes we could do dat i´m collector and a sort of selector in some partys so i hav some albums just cause the players of instruments and i´m a fan of deep roots music i'ave about 2500 roots albums and about 10 are new roots of course they are not all my best choice but dem made history from dat time to dis time.lets put a topic of heavy albums of our choice i don't like to call suffers becca it should hapen people suffer in the world today.i live in a country (Portugal) where reggae is miles away from the people ho only like wat is given and dem only like the new roots ragga and digital tings.but at partys i make dem listen to oldies but goodies jus to make dem get mad and if yu don´t like it "remove yah!" me no play dem gentleman and dem tings me say to dem... they go mad and me laugh....
