African Princess

Post by Mark »

I have a song by African Princess (mp3). It is called 'Jah children cry'. Great stuff.
Can't find any info about her though.
Does anyone know more?
Thanks!

This tune is, together with Jah Jah Dub on the B-site, on a Jah Shaka 12inch (Shaka 809).

Got an album from a so called "African Princess" produced by Mad Professor, but doesnt sound like the one that sing for Jah Shaka... Seems there is only one chune of her... under dis name at least! There is a 10" and a 12" release of the Shaka chune... I dont know if there is a difference in the mix of the 10"

Don't know other African Princess songs @ Mark. The tune also appears on the album 'Hits from the house of jah shaka'.

Can you please give more information about the African Princess Mad Professor album @ Litelet?

LITELET, sounds like your buddy Probably gave you the African Woman - African woman Abroad album on a CDR and wrote African Princess - They are in fact two different artists/groups. Check the tracklisting for this LP on the archive and see if you recognize the titles.

Still though, even the Roots archives info on this one can be a little misleading ....here is the correct production credits:

Mixed by Mickey Campbell (Mikey dread or Michael Campbell...I don't think it really has a DATC feel to it- Uk production, UK roots style)
Engineered by MAd Professor (no doubt)
all songs arranged and produced by african Woman

I do understand that African Woman later morphed into Akabu, but I am wondering why the Roots Archive says that Akabu produced the African Woman Abroad LP?

Either way, Both The African Woman and African Pricess are Hard Roots tunes and highly recommended!!

You mighyt have heard the Extended Vocal version of African Princess' "JAh Children Cry" as it is been made widely available on the Shaka LP "Hits from the house..", but the But the B-Side Dubb version is unique to the 12" Disco and it is indeed "Out of control"! (as SDROOTS said). Zulu Warrior dubb at his finest! aDamBom

P.S.-Speaking of Shaka, He actually performs some of the vocal Armonies on the African Woman abroad LP
