Carlos! I dont put the albums that i considere the best from the artists apart for Horace Andy, i advice Dancehall style cause lot of old roots lovers ignore this album, ("Reconstruction" of Max Romeo too...), me too i prefer "the best dressed chicken in town", but "wonderful theme" is not very popular and a good album.
(I call "classics" the albums that you can find easily in cd at Virgin Megastore or anothers big music shops +/-)
Im unpatient to see your selection!

Hey Fab, how can ANYONE overlook Horace's Dancehall style???

There's another I missed in my last list, one I had back in the late 70s and now have managed at last to find again after a long time look (but only a re-iss, I can never find an original).

It's ERROL Holt (not John) that's Flabba I believe, and his roots and melecholic tunes on 'Visions of Africa'. This was always one of my best albums and I would listen to this when I felt the blues. Fave track might be 'Babylon Queendom'

Another that I guess you might get in Virgin but is still worth a mention as so many people overlook it in favour of 'Cry Tuff Encounters' 'Under Heavy Manners' etc is Prince Far I - Psalms Far I. This is the great man at his best, as a roots preacher. Unbeatable.

Yes, best dressed chicken is cool but maybe I overplayed it back in the early days and now prefer the softer vocals on 'Kings Bread'. But I don't think I ever even see or hear 'Wonderful theme' I must check it out.

Yes, Carlos, I know that I, and many of my reggae lovin friends, are almost brought to tears by the real soulful regga vibe. I am always moved in some way by these wonderful riddim.

I don't want to hog the thread, so please tell me to shut up if I make too many posts on this subject, BUT....

I must also mention:

Sugar Minott - Sufferer's choice. So good!

'Jonnie' Clarke - Girl I love you
(later, dread natty congo) on Justice. And yes, that's is how they spell johnny on this issue! Best track? Hard to choose, but maybe 'remember me'..

The more I read these threads the more I realise how many records I still need to buy!
