I always thought Scientist was the Mixing Engineer for Junjo Lawes and Linval Thompson.

If you look at most of Junjo`s / Linvals productions on RA this seems to be supported.

Nearly all Scientist input during the early eighties was as a Mixing Engineer / Recording Engineer.

His work as producer in Jamaica during this period was very limited. It was only after he left Jamaica and into the 1990`s that he got more involved in the production side of the business.

Hi Roddy,

I`m not disagreeing with you and am only stating what I thought was correct.

I read somewhere a while ago regarding Scientist as a producer and it definately stated that his production input increased enormously after he left Jamaica and had more contol over his music.

But, I have to admit, it never directly mentioned his time in the studio working on Junjo Lawes / Greensleeves material.

Scientist claim that for the first time.
In intervieuws from 79 till 2000 he never say that he produce those albums.
And when i met him he never talk about producing those albums.
It's all money "blooddunza" thing.

I could see why some would say Scientist is over-rated. His mixes are very good, but what makes those classic early 80's Scientist albums so killer is the Roots Radics.

good point the expanders. often ive reflected on the fact that the actual musicians are the ones that actually thrill the listener, and as far as dub engineers go, what exactly is their role?are they a type of manager, supervisor, do they devise the riddim, etc?what does scientist actually do?help me anyone who knows.
