Riddim question

Post by Jah Glu »

I'm wondering who made the first version of the riddim "Quiet Place" aka "Man Next Door". I think that it was Dennis Brown but only because i saw it on a "Trojan Originals Boxset". I came in big doubt when i saw that The Paragons had recorded a version and since The Paragons made songs earlier that Dennis Brown i really didnt know! So please help a roots lover!

Big big tune by the way!

John Holt & Papagons Man Next Door

Jamaican single on the Supertone label, UK single (Duke DU 007) with Left With A Broken Heart on the a-side, 1968. Produced by Duke Reid.

A.k.a. Got To Get Away, Man In My Neighborhood, A Quiet Place and Quiet Place. Re-recorded by The Paragons for producer R Anderson in 1973. Recorded by Dennis Brown 1979 for Joe Gibbs. Probably inspired by A Quiet Place by Garnet Mimms & The Enchanters, 1964.
