Just met yesterday in Addis a guy who claims to be the producer of the 12 tribes and he told me that the volume one was edited in 1985 !! not 1979. He said they asked all the musicians to give one of their songs and they never paid them, that's how the recordings could be earlier. I hardly believe this is true as the sound is quite homogeneous and looks like late seventies but he was sure of himself..

it very well could have been recorded earlier and mixed and/or edited at a later date.that sort of thing happens all the time.

I fully agree with you, thruthnright, it stick well to the sound... 70's recording (except father's eyes that got a dancehall drumbeat) but overdubbed with digi effects in the 80s... and as said wareika, all the pressings seen have the mark of the 7" hole in the center, indicating an 80s press...
