Bizarrely, I had been telling gibey I desperately needed a vocal cut of "Downtown...". That same day Rootsman Dave sent me "Barry Brown & Johnny Clarke - Sings Roots & Culture". I got the shock of my life when "Better For I" came on!! Synchronicity.

Thanks for those. I am determined to complete the "Kamaikazi Showcase"!

lemme know how I can help 6anbatte. Seems to me Jammy's 70's output came on very diverse sources, thus your task is difficult. Also seems like he mixed a whole lot of relatively obscure dj lp's, or at least there was a lot of chatting on i.e, his Black Uhuru Black Sounds set, etc. I pulled out Gold Mine Dub to have a listen, got a few singers and riddims id'd - when you're done with Kamikazi let's work on that. all blest

Just managed to get hold of Johnny Osbourne's "Time Is Get Hard" ("Swords Of Vengeance") to join the "Kamikazi Showcase"! Good call on that one.

Kamikazi dub is one of jammys best. Definately a top dub album of that time period. I don't know what to say to the guy that thought it was poor. One of my favorite older dubs is Fatman Wagon of dub check it.

chupa, what's the buzz, tell me whatza happening on Wagon o Dub, is it a Jacob Miller versioning thing? Top Ranking? about the only super memorable things I can remember stumbling across Top Ranking-wise is a W McAnuff 12 called Unchained and a wicked George Clinton cover by Devon Russell/Irons called One Nation (Under a Groove). Do the Fatmen ride that wagon a'tall?

Which reminds me of some other Rockers-era remakes of ska classics- the Gladiators Black Saturday (to Black Sunday)and of course Jackie, Tommy, the Revolutionaries and Vin Gordon often revisited the ska classics a decade later. would be a tremendous cd concept imo.

and
Heavyweight Dub

for some while now.

I have the 'Featuring Touter' and 'Baldhead Justice' LPs and both are killa, which just makes me want the others more.

They seem only to surface when I can't afford to bid on them

Shame you weren't around when I sold my copy of "Fatman ... meets the Downtown Horns ..." in the early 80's as you could have definitely afforded what I got for it.
