bob marley vs deejayz

Post by imet »

...Hello to everybody from the etna's top...

...i'd like to start a discussion where everybody list bob marley tunes covered by old school deejayz...it can be enough interesting...

i got the first round :

12" - kingston 12 shuffle [u-roy over trenchtown rock]
12" - small axe [u-roy]
7" - talking blues [i-roy]
LP - ten commandments : exodus chapter II [i-roy toasting over the whole exodus album less turn your lights down low plus put it on]
12" - slave driver [dennis brown + ranking joe on a different riddim]

...all this stuff i got it on vinyl (except the 7")...
i wish this post can catch your attention...

...regards !!!

U-ROY - Natty Rebel (Bob Marley - Soul Rebel) probably my favorite marley DJ Choon.

If we are talkin about covers I would say Black Uhuru's Natural Mystic version

The Grooving Kingston 12 box set also contains "Do Good" with Big Youth on Craven Choke Puppy.

I agree with Thal. Natty Rebel with U Roy and Gladiators is a definitive favorite!

Big Youth covers "Get Up Stand Up" on A Tribute to Bob Marley, but that sort of thing is probably to be expected. ;)

U Roy covers "Dreamland" on the same album. My bad jokes aside, it's a worth a listen or several.
Peace,

James

One of the best imo is Jah Stitch (I think)toasting over Mellow Mood.

It is on the "DJs of the 70s" (Rhino) album titled Cherry Mood. However some of the stuff on that album is mistitled and it may be miscredited as well bu its definitely cut on Mellow Mood.

Regards
