tune id please

Post by steady rockin »

a wicked dub track labeled:
The Upsetters ~ "Strictly Rockers"
has a vocal sample:
"as long as you wake up and see the sun, its a good day."

i was wondering if ayone knew the name of the original track and who sings it.

thanks.

I haven't yet heard of a track called "Strictly Rockers". Not by the Upsetters, that is.
What record is it on ?

yeah, i've checked all the upsetters albums and can't find it.

its on a cd titled:

7X7: Lee 'Scratch' Perry VS. King Tubby In Dub

Maybe its mislabeled on that cd.

Do the lyrics sound familiar?

I haven't heard the CD, but I know that the disc has nothing to do with Lee Perry or The Upsetters. It is probably a Tubby tune. Sorry, the lyrics don't sound familiar.

sorry about that last one, here is a link to a site that allows you to listen to a sample:

it does have a king tubby sound to it. did he ever produce any upsetters stuff?

This site says it is improperly credited to Scratch:

Sorry, not familiar with the original. The riddim is a version of "Pick Up The Pieces"

*"as long as you wake up and see the sun, its a good day"*

This lyric was used over the "Pick Up The Pieces" rhythm by Pat Kelly on his single "Its A Good Day", produced by Ossie Hibbert.
